The saddest one (at least for me) would probably be *Jisung.* His scene hurt so much. He's smiling, laughing, and jumping, basically trying to being happy over 'nothing'. Notice that the door in his room is closed? He's not even showing it to anyone, but he's like trying to show himself that he's okay. But then all of sudden reality hit him, his fake smile disappear and he became sad then just sit there in the bed. This, plus knowing what happened to him last year, hurt so much ㅠㅠ

i'm sorry but as i watched jisung hug that shirt filled with memories and then just put his head down with a defeated and sad expression, i just started sobbing. as the rest of the members started exhibiting their regret, their emptiness, and reminiscing the times where they were happy and content, and the moment chan dunked his head in the sink, i.. i couldn't stop crying. a song has never made such an impact in my emotions, in my life. the song itself was so, so beautiful and melancholic, i, as someone who's never cried for a song before, just couldn't help but weep and feel for them. wow.

I'm honestly in awe of Han's acting. I think his role could mean two things. He is either someone who is trying to move on but keeps on getting stuck in his old memories, Or (and this would be such a hard to thing to act), he is someone who went crazy from the sadness, laughing when he's hurting inside, so distant from reality, until it finally comes crashing on him and puts him in a slump (evident when he's playing with the shirt and then clutches the window for dear life as if he's finally sunk). The hardest role to act, congrats to Han for slaying it!

I’ve only been a Stay for a month. And it’s been a major blessing in my life.. I struggle with a lot of body image issues and it’s hard after having kids and obviously getting older that my body looks much different than it did in my 20s.. and on the days I struggle the most I listen to this song.. i usually have to hide in the bathroom and have a good cry while listening to it a few times.. but listening to this song helps me hold my head a bit higher And push through. i think we didn't talk much about han jisung's acting here. his acting doesn't even look like an act. he really showed how it's like to lose someone he loved, as if he had experienced it himself. it still hurts me a lot until now. when i thought this boy couldn't be more talented that he already is, he proved me wrong.

Everyone has a ghost except Han so he’s the only one living and dealing with the loss of his members We see him alone in a bedroom jumping around and trying to cheer himself up Maybe the clothes on the floor represent the memories of his friends ? i love the water symbolism between minho and chan. with minho water represents life and nourishment, because he's drinking it to calm down and is watering the plants. but with chan, the water represents death and pain, because he tries to drown himself. i think it symbolises how something good can become deadly in the wrong circumstances, which parallels the lyrics that describe a bad ending to a relationship. they wanted to break up and thought it was a good thing, but now that they're apart it's killing them inside.

Ex mv theory: The lyrics are so broad but it reminded me so much of MIA. Recap if you don’t remember what MIA was about, it’s about missing the old you, when you were happy and smiling. In this case, I feel like their grieving over the loss of their innocence and youth. At first I thought it was a romantic break up but the way the mv was edited changed my mind. At the beginning when Felix got hit by the toy train I noticed the train itself was made up of two significant colors, Orange and Blue. Just like his vest. Changbin stood in front of pictures in the hallway. The way I interpreted this scene, pictures capture moments and he’s sitting at the top of the stairs looking sad and reminiscent and the blue paint on the windows could pay homage to his Streetlight song, implying he’s suffering internally and he’s not okay. Seungmin is sitting in front of a tv and Hyunjin is stacking erasers on top of each other and has crumpled up blue sticky notes around it. I couldnt get much out of Seungmin’s part bc the only thing I could associate youth with is watching tv all the time w/ no worries. Hyunjin’s tower of erasers grow higher as it falls apart. IN seems like he’s celebrating a birthday and even though there’s a set of utensils in front of him he steals frosting off the cake and eats it. There’s two candles, and birthdays are annual celebrations so it could also symbolize the group’s two yrs since debut. Minho drinking so much water could either be drowning himself in his sorrows or drinking a lot of water after playing outside. He pours out the water in the gardens like he’s pouring his feelings out as he watches the plants grow. Han is holding on to a long sleeve that could possibly belong to him and he’s trying to be a kid again by jumping on the bed and dancing and playing as a ghost, pretty much projecting how he feels. Chan reflects on himself and cries over the person he’s become. He tries to drown out the voices but as he does so the thoughts of the members brings him back to the light. The ghosts might represent the struggle of moving on. Ghosts are known for not moving on to the after life and I noticed after each member showed their inner ghosts, sunlight later shined on them which might mean “you may be feeling this pain now but everything will be okay.” An old friend used to tell me “Sometimes you have to go through the storm in order to get to the rainbow.” And i think that’s what the rainbow at the end symbolically meant. BUT I also noticed it was a double rainbow. Just like in Neverland. Soooo in conclusion the blue might also symbolize “Wendy’s” blue gown. She represents being a child and soon having to grow up. The toy train, watching tv, stacking erasers like blocks, stealing frosting from the cake, drinking water/playing outside, playing with hand paint, drowning out voices (parents telling you what to do/people telling you what be, inner demons,etc) are all signs of youth. When we see them happy, jumping in the sky it’s almost like they’re flying. (Peter Pan/lost boys flying when thinking happy thoughts) When they’re all together they’re happy and playful, and I feel like the garden could be their version of Neverland. They lost their innocence and had to grow up at early stages in their lives for their careers and they miss that part of themselves. They chose to let that go which is why they call themselves crazy and why the English title is “Ex” it’s the former version of themselves.

Am I the only one thinking that the water Minho is drinking is just a metaphor? Like he tries to get rid of how empty he feels inside by drinking (like really since they can't show alcohol? In general I think that this MV has such a deep message... Every one of them is dealing with loss, regret and anger towards themselves in their own way. Be it by drinking (Minho), hallucinating (Jisung), trying to commit s/c (Chan), eatingdisorders (IN), disyraction (Hyunjin, Seungmin), lethargy and depression (Felix) and expressing your pain through actions and not words (Changbin). But in the end it really only helps if you open up and talk to somebody. Felix: Represents suicide, you can see him lying on the train tracks and at "how are you" it hits him, ending his life, he knew that the train would pass over him, he was there on purpose, he tried to end everything Chan: He represents the self-hatred, we can see him looking at himself in the mirror with a look of hatred and disappointment, he tries to hurt himself. That feeling of not being able to look at yourself because you feel disgust and pain of how you are, how you look and what you do. Seungmin: He represents that constant feeling of laziness at not being able to do a simple action, just as we see him tired and lost while watching television, or how sometimes we feel really bad that simple things like getting up become difficult. Jisung: Represents missing the old you, the one that was happy. We see him holding his shirt and smiling happily because he remembers how he was before and misses his old personality, his old self. That is why he stops when he realizes that that person doesn´t exist anymore. Changbin: He represents the feeling of being consumed in fear of what may happen, we see him with that constant fear in his eyes and as he looks around, he is also cornered in a corner, his fears imprison him and don´t let him be himself. Minho: 1 ° He could represent the feeling of being pressured by society to do something good, that's why he tries to water the flowers to please others, but he´s desperate because he can't live up to expectations, that's why he drinks the water. 2 ° Watering the flowers could mean trying to take care of someone else because you are too bad at taking care of yourself, he tries to help to feel better and be able to escape. The flowers are Lavenders, which symbolize peace and relaxation. Minho represents the feeling of nervousness about not being well and not being able to do anything with himself. His "happiness" comes from the happiness of others. Jeongin: He represtns the feeling of loneliness, we see him with party things, he wants to celebrate something but he is alone and has no one around him, it can also mean how sometimes we want to celebrate our achievements or experiences but we don´t have anyone by our side and we are alone, we keep those feelings to ourselves and act as if we were nothing, that is why he is seen eating the cake (celebrating) with an empty expression and without joy. End: The important thing here is the end. We see that the boys altought everything, managed to get ahead and overcome all those difficulties, they fought against their own ghosts and found their own happiness.
