To me the lyrics read as a conversation of regret and apology between child and parent. The majority of it from a parent and then the final message as reply to both parents. I can imagine how heart wrenching it would be to open up with your child about the hardships you all kept to yourselves to try to stay strong in times of separation and realizing how much you missed each other but maybe didn’t express it as much in the moment. Wishing you could go back push through those barriers to prevent facing hardship in isolation from that main support. 🥺 I’m not working a job that is as gruelling (especially time-wise) in a different country but I am living apart from my family in a different city and had to experience the loss of my mom to a drawn out disease from a distance and hoo boy does the sentiment of this song hit hard.

The emotional vulnerability in these lyrics must've been so difficult to express and put into words that perfectly represented the depth and pain of such feelings/emotions but Chan did so and did so absolutely beautifully in a way that really strikes everyone who listens to it right in the heart and helps them understand the feelings and maybe remember times that they've felt the same way. Knowing that Chan has had to go through such hard, tenuous times to bring us this masterpiece makes my heart ache and I hope he has healed or does find a way to heal in the future from these struggles, I know that such feelings will never entirely go away but I just hope they don't leave a constant feeling of pain for him. And Seungmin sung this so gorgeously and really helped convey the emotions of the piece in such a perfect way. Chan's lyricism and production with Seungmin's vocals is such a wonderful and striking combo. Wow this song makes me cry and the art they put alongside it telling Chan's story makes it hit even harder, very much sobbing.
